She explained what had been happening to her two year old son. Janna’s mother explained that her brothers had the same experience in the same room when they were little. Then one day, Janna asked her mother if anything strange had happened in their family home. Janna thought it was her son’s imagination, so she would make up games with her son to “attack“ the monsters to put them away. He told his mother that the monsters wanted to take him away from her. He often talked about how his dad (the one who had committed suicide) visited him along with the “monsters”. He often woke up screaming from nightmares at around 3 AM, and would never be able to go back to sleep. Since they moved into the family home, her son, Karsten, had never been able to sleep at night. Trying to get back to a normal life, Janna moved in with her older brother and his wife in a family home. She was involved in an abusive relationship where her boyfriend ended up committing suicide.
